Lesson 7: Eggs Copy
Through this lesson, children should be able to:
- Describe the various parts of an egg
Let’s get to know the lesson through this quick video:
| Teaching Aids | Student Kit | Workbook |
|---|---|---|
| Egg party notice Flashcard Animals that Lay Eggs picture cards | Humpty Dumpty card | Pages 12, 13 |
Let’s ‘stretch’ this lesson!

The bigger the bird, the bigger the size of its egg. Chicken eggs, on the other hand, come in different sizes according to the age of the hen. The older the hen, the bigger the eggs laid. Whereas, the different colours of chicken eggs is determined by genetics.
Tip: If you ran out of egg shells, the Humpty Dumpty craft can be decorated using other materials too such as coloured paper, cotton balls, feathers, and many more.
What good questions can you ask in this lesson?
| Remembering | Understanding | Applying | Analyzing | Evaluating | Creating | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eggs | What is this? | Where do eggs come from? | Why are these eggs in different sizes? | Which egg is the biggest/smallest? | What do you think is inside this egg? | Can you name an egg that we eat? |
| Spinning Eggs | What is this? | What did you observe? | What did you do to stop the eggs from spinning? | Which egg stopped spinning/ keeps spinning? | Why did this egg stop spinning and the other keeps spinning? | Can you suggest another way to test whether an egg is raw or boiled? |
| Do They Lay Eggs? | What animal is this? | Do all of these animals lay eggs? | How does this animal give birth to their young? | Which animal lays eggs/does not lay eggs? | Why do you think some animals lay eggs and some animals give birth to their young? | Can you suggest a way to protect animal eggs from being eaten, taken, or destroyed by predators or hunters? |
