How To Enable the Learning?
This comic story explores how different animals move and how these movements differ from each other. After watching the comic story/animation video, your child should be able to identify the movement of an animal.
Ask the following guiding questions to see the level of their understanding against this learning outcome:
- Can you name the animals that Alfa and his friends act in the animal charade?
- What is the movement of each of these animals?
- Can you demonstrate and imitate the movements of these animals?
Now, let’s ‘stretch’ and have your child to think critically by discussing their thoughts about the speed of animal movements. Are all animals move in the same speed? Start by giving example of two animals such as a tiger and a cow. “Who is faster?” and “Who is slower?”.
Now, shift the discussion from animals to the modes of transportation. Investigate if the children can relate the animal movements, they have studied to the origin of vehicle invention. Ask them:
- What mode of transportation moves like a bird?
- What mode of transportation moves like a fish?
Explain to the children that humans use information about the ways animals move to imagine, invent, and create new modes of transportation such as an aeroplane or submarine.
