Activity: Float It Challenge Copy

Now, when your child understands more about float and sink, let’s do this activity!

Materials Needed

  • Mini Float
  • Aluminium Foil
  • Container
  • Water
  • Coins / Marbles

How To Do

Let us follow the step-by-step guide for you to do this activity with your child.

  1. Fill the container with water.
  2. Challenge your child to make as many coins or marbles that your child can with the mini float and aluminium foil.
  3. Allow time for your child to try different ways to make the coins float.
  4. Now, ask your child to explain his/her inventions, for example:
  • The mini float contains air that allows the coins to float.
  • Changing the shape of the aluminium foil into a box/boat will allow it to carry the coins. So, the coins will float!
