Activity 1: Surprise Bag Copy
Now, once your child had completed the first activity, let’s play this game!
Materials Needed

- Surprise Bag (self-prepared)
How To Do
Let’s follow the step-by-step guide for you to play this game with your child.
- Fill the bag with different items that have different textures. You need to put two same items inside the bag. ( E.g.: 2 sponges, 2 feathers, 2 pencils, 2 sandpapers)
- Show the surprise bag to your child.
- With an air of drama, look into the bag. Then, look at your child and say, “I have a surprise in this bag. Can you put your hand in and guess what is in there?”
- Let your child put his/her hand into the bag and attempt to describe the object that he or she is touching to you.
- Then, ask your child, “Based on the characteristics you have described, can you guess what the object is?”.
- Let your child takes the object out from the bag to see whether he/she has guessed it correctly. Let him/her look for a similar thing in the bag.
- Now, scatter all the objects from the surprise bag onto a flat surface and guide your child to understand that different objects have different textures.
- This is a great place for the use of adjectives and allows your child’s language learning to take place implicitly. You can encourage your child by asking questions such as:
- Is the object big or small?
- ▫ Is the object hard or soft?
- ▫ Is the object long or short?
- ▫ Is the object smooth or rough?
- ▫ Is the object wet or dry?
- ▫ What is the shape of the object? Round or square?
