Activity 1 : Hidden Numbers (R)

Materials Needed

Number Chart 1 to 50
Small objects such as coins or buttons

Procedure

  1. Let your child have the Number Chart. 
  2. Get your child to read the numbers 1 to 20 forwards and backwards. 
  3. Cover some of the numbers with the small objects and get your child to guess the numbers hidden beneath the objects. 
  4. Point to one of the missing numbers and ask your child, “What is the hidden number?” If your child is unable to tell the answer, you may prompt him/her with the number before the hidden number and ask, “What is the number after this?” 
  5. Let him/her remove the object to retrieve the answer. 
  6. Repeat this activity by continuing with other hidden numbers.
