Activity 1: Density of Honey, Oil and Water Experiment Copy
Now, when your child understands more about float and sink, let’s do this activity!
Materials Needed

- Test tube
- Honey (Self-Prepared)
- Oil (Self-Prepared)
How To Do
Let us follow the step-by-step guide for you to do this activity with your child.
- Ask your child to predict which liquid will be on top when we add the honey and water together.
- Remind your child not to shake the test tube throughout the experiment.
- Have your child to measure three spoonsful of water into his/her test tube. Now, add three spoonsful of honey into the same test tube.
- Tighten the white cap.
- Your child should see that there are three layers, that oil floats on water, and that honey sinks to the bottom sitting beneath the water.
- Ask your child to sequence the liquids from less dense to most dense based on their observations (Oil < Water < Honey).
- Keep the test tube for the next activity.
