This comic story explores air with a focus on classifying things that need oxygen and things that do not need oxygen.
Answers:
- Animals, Human Beings, Fire
- All living things will die due to not being able to breathe.
- Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, Oxygen
Now, let’s ‘stretch’ and have your child think critically by discussing his/her thoughts about the air content. Ask your child (1) “What are the gases that are used for the respiration process?” and (2) “Why is carbon dioxide important for plants?” Listen to your child’s answer.
Answers:
- Humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Plants breathe in (use) carbon dioxide to make food and release oxygen via a process known as photosynthesis. Plants create the majority of the oxygen we breathe in. So, plants are very important to us.
- Carbon dioxide is important for plants in the process of photosynthesis.
