Supporting Our Teachers

Little Scientists is designed to support teachers in effectively delivering early science education to preschool children with varied learning styles, strengths and attitudes
Having trouble conducting the experiments? Activities did not go as planned?
Have extra time or are looking for creative ways to modify and “stretch” this lesson?
Here are tips and suggestions to support your teaching needs:
| Introduction | While you are introducing the topic and exploring the outdoors with the children, encourage them to carefully observe the plants. Allow them to touch and feel the parts of the plant to enhance the sensory experience. To make the exploration more interesting, ask the children to hunt for leaves of different colours (green, brown, yellow). |
| Activity: Tree Trunk | You could extend the activity by printing out labels of parts of a tree (branch, leaves, trunk etc.). Show the labels one by one to the children and say out loud what each label says. Ask the children to point where each label should go on the tree. Since this activity involves the whole class, put the complete Tree Trunk on display in the classroom. After a few days, ask the children to observe what has happened to the leaves of the tree. Have they turned a different colour? |
