Activity: Taste Test Copy
Now, once your child had able to explain about his/her sense of taste, let’s do this activity.
Material Needed

- Spoon Straw (from child’s student kit)
- Taste test: Sugar, salt, vinegar, chicken stock & coffee (self-prepared)
- Eye Cover (self-prepared)
How To Do
Let’s follow the step-by-step guide for you to do a hands-on activity with your child.
- Dissolve some salt, sugar, coffee, vinegar, and MSG (chicken stock) in five separate cups, filled with water.
- If you do not want to use chicken stock for umami taste, you can use cheese, soy sauce or tomato sauce instead.
- Let your child close his/her eyes with eye cover.
- Place a few drops of sugar solution onto your child’s spoon straw.
- Let your child describe the taste of the solution. Use the questions below.
- Repeat all the steps with the other taste.
- How does it taste like?
- Is it salty, sour, sweet, bitter, or umami (savoury)?
